This Six day course is designed for healthcare professionals who are seeking to improve quality of care and patient outcome. It introduces practical approaches in implementing modern methods of performance improvement and outcome management. The course helps participants implement Best Practice and Evidence Based Medicine to fill the gap between current and desired levels of performance. The approach used in this course will help organizations to comply with accreditation standards. Participants will obtain a variety of tools and materials that would enable them to implement quality in their work settings
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the basic concepts of Healthcare Quality.
2. Identify the principles and dimensions of healthcare quality
-Implement a practical approach for Performance and Quality Improvement Pro cess (PQI)
3.Develop a performance improvement plan
-Facilitate the establishment of performance improvement oversight group (e.g., Quality Council, Steering Council, QM Committee)
4. Identify the need for a performance improvement team or teams
5. Measure performance using quantitative and qualitative data, common cause and special cause variation
6. Identify a performance improvement opportunity at their facility
7. Assess customer needs/expectations using surveys
8. Facilitate performance improvement teams using the PDCA cycle approach.
9. Integrate results of performance improvement into day to day practice
10. Understand how to use Evidence Based Medicine to improve performance
11. Recognize the importance of accreditation as an approach to improve quality and patient outcomes.
12. Coordinate the accreditation survey processes
13. Achieve a state of continuous readiness for accreditation.
