Profound knowledge and expertise gained from various international institutions; George Town University, Jones Hopkins University, Connecticut University, Istituto Superiori Di Sanita Italy, Medical Schools of Alexandria, Tanta, Zakazek, Assuit, Menia, Al Azhar Universities, Pathfinder International, South to South etc. and studying the health management systems in the developed countries “USA, Italy” and some developing countries “Indonesia, Philippines, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru and Zambia”. Built a career as a Manager of health program& organizations of Ministry of Health and Population and Non Governmental Organizations, as a Trainer of Quality Management and Standard Performance and as a consultant for national and international institutions. As a manager his contribution includes the development of innovative Standard Performance concept and approaches with self administered quality management systems. Among the developed systems are the Performance Award systems that measures and awards team performance and Performance Improvement program that measures and awards individual performance. He also developed a Knowledge based management information system that supports the strategic and business planning process. As a trainer he developed many management curricula and managed tens of training courses and workshops in the areas of quality management, TOT, Governing bodies, marketing, communication, financial management and sustainability etc. In collaboration with IIE “International Institute of Education” he implemented the very successful Cascading program through 32, one week courses, for more than 600 trainees. As a consultant he led and gave strategic directions to the upgrading of management and training capabilities of many Egyptian medical schools, NGOs and private institutions.

Omar H. El Hattab, MD, PhD

Dr Omar El Hattab has more than fifteen years of academic and International experience in the USA and the Middle East in managing the implementation of complex medical information systems that need to meet the strictest standards of quality and reliability and to be used as a foundation of for quality health care delivery and as a vehicle for application of public health policy.
Dr. Omar El Hattab, is a physician working as a Health Informatics expert with the Vista Imaging team, Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information, Silver Spring, MD, USA. Professor El Hattab is also lending his experience to George Mason University, Virginia, USA where he shares in their distinguished courses in Hospital Information Management Systems (HIS) and the Electronic Health Records (EHRs). El Hattab worked as a full Professor at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, Egypt. He was previously a visiting faculty member at the University of Maryland, College Park MD (UMCP).
He is an expert in customizing information systems originally developed in the USA for use in different environments in the Middle East. He worked with several international organization projects like WHO, U.S. AID and U.N. development programs (UNDP). He is involved in undergraduate, post graduate teaching, masters and PhD research supervision.
Moreover, he worked in the area of Cancer Registration, Epidemiology, and Education and headed the Kuwait National Cancer Registry and Developed the Kuwait first National Cancer Report.

Dr Ossama Mossalam
QAI Advisor for Strategic Management & Performance Improvement
Dr Mossalam has more than fifteen years of experience at the international, regional and national level in administration and management of health projects and health organizations. He has sound knowledge and experience in management including quality management, contracting, strategic planning, logistics, operational planning, monitoring, and negotiation. During this period he coordinated and contributed in more than 100 health and management-related conferences and workshops at the regional and international level. Since Jan. 06 he is the technical advisor, UNFPA/NPC Yemen. He maintained his position as Contractual Faculty, the American University in Cairo (AUC), Institute of Management Development. He is teaching: strategic management, operational planning, quality (six sigma), negotiation skills & logistics for post-graduate program in health care and hospital management. Also he is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Arab Academy of Science and Technology, teaching strategic management, logistics, and negotiation skills. Since Sept.99, Dr. Mossalam has been appointed as Adjunct Assistant Professor, International Health, Boston University, USA, teaching strategic planning and health management information system for master degree students. In 2006, Dr Mossalam has joined the Board of advisors of QAI in as a consultant and trainer the area of strategic Leadership and Quality management.

Mahi Al-Tehewy M.D.
QAI Advisor for Healthcare Quality Management
Prof. Al-Tehewy is a physician working as Prof. Of Public Health and Director of Healthcare Quality Unit at Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt. She has 28 years experience in training and researches and one of the pioneers in the field of training in quality management and its application in health facilities. Prof. Al-Tehewy has established healthcare quality unit at Ain Shams faculty of Medicine in 1999 aiming at training in the field of healthcare quality, providing consultation and technical assistance in the area of quality planning, quality improvement and quality control, including setting standards, selecting key performance indicators, and participating in health service researches. As a quality consultant for General Directorate of Quality, MOHP, Prof. Al-Tehewy has prepared two training curricula on healthcare quality management one for family physicians and the other for hospital facilitators and quality coordinators. Prof. Al-Tehewy is quality advisor for EMRO/WHO and a member of EMRO/WHO expert group on hospital accreditation program. She is also the coordinator of the regional training in quality management and the coordinator of TQM training at the national institute of training, MOHP. As assigned by MOHP and endorsed by EMRO/WHO, Prof. Al-Tehewy reviewed quality experience of Egypt up till present time and prepared the national quality policy for Egypt. As a Member of the Health Committee, National Democratic Political Party she participated in situational analysis of healthcare quality activities in the country, and prepared a paper to establish the Egyptian Council of Accreditation of health facilities. Prof. Al-Tehewy is invited to be as a Member of the national executive committee for Accreditation, which has been established recently in Egypt. Prof. Al-Tehewy is assigned now, by MOHP and supported by EMRO/WHO, to develop and test a set of hospital quality measures feasible for application in Egypt. As a quality consultant for Ain Shams University Hospitals Prof. Al-Tehewy is running now a performance improvement program at these huge educational hospitals. Prof. Al-Tehewy is one of the founder of Arab League of Quality and the representative of Egypt. She had the honor to be the General Secretary of The First International Conference on “Modern Methods of Hospital Administration” Sheraton Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt, 2001.
Prof. Al-Tehewy has a list of publication in local and international medical journals and was supervisors for many Master and Doctor Degrees theses some of them were deeply concerned with healthcare quality management. She has the honor to be one of the reviewers for EMHJ and participated in reviewing some of the papers presented to the 20th ISQua conference, Dallas, USA. Prof. Al-Tehewy was a principal investigator; co-investigator or consultant for a number of researches in the field of Epidemiology and health service researches funded either by national or international agencies. In addition to be certified as a national healthcare accreditation surveyor, Prof. Al-Tehewy in April 2005 has been awarded a certification of completion by Joint Commission Resources in recognition of participation in the international standards and survey process. In 2006, Prof. Al Tehewy has invited by MOH of Sudan to support Accreditation program through preparing manual of surveyors’ guide and conducting training course for surveyors.

Dr Bassam Shahin, MD
QAI Advisor for Performance Improvement, Training & Patient Safety
Dr. Shahin is a consultant with 15 years of experience in Family Practice and Aviation Medicine. Currently he is the director of quality department in the Royal Medical Services (RMS) in Jordan. He is responsible for the implementation Quality and Safety programs in eleven hospitals that function under the RMS. Dr Shahin is the key coordinator for the National and International accreditation program within the RMS. He worked as a senior advisor for ISO 9001-2000 and King Abdullah II excellence award (KEA) He prepared Queen Alia heart institute for Joint Commission Accreditation. Since 2002, Dr Shahin has been receiving intensive training in all aspects of healthcare Quality and Safety. At this stage, he is candidate for the Healthcare Quality Certification Board Exam. He attended comprehensive training courses in quality: Basic, Advanced and Leadership courses in Jordan by QAI. He also attended the two week training course in quality at Ain–shams /Egypt, the one week CPHQ training course in Jordan conducted by professionals in this field, one week basic training course in ISO 9001-2000 in Jordan by professionals private company, one week strategic planning and human resources training in Jordan. He also attended awareness course for king Abdullah II excellence award (Kaa), one week training course in adverse events in WHO EMRO office. Recently, he is recognized as a trainer in adverse events for WHO in Jordan.
He participated as a trainer in many scientific workshops and conferences related to safety issues especially patients role in patient safety and general safety orientation. In 2006, Dr Shahin has been recognized by QAI as a Quality trainer and consultant in the Arab countries.

Ola Gamal Khashaba, MD, CPHQ ,TQM

Health Information Systems
Dr. Ola is a CPHQ (since Dec.2004) and also a Consultant doctor specialized in Clinical and Chemical Pathology for over 20 years. She works as the Director of the Medical Records and Statistics Department, Cairo university Hospitals (CUHs.) and a Consultant of laboratory medicine in the lab. of Abu-El-Riche Children Hospital, one of the (CUHs). She supervised and shared in many theses and researches, also shared in teaching and training of residents and doctors. She shared in several International projects among which are: The National Project of Diarrhea and Dehydration Combat, and the Schistosomiasis Combat Project.
She participated in the management of many laboratories including Quality management, tenders and annual monthly purchasing orders. Since then her interest in quality was emphasized .She started her career in quality by studying for the “ Diploma of total Quality Management in Healthcare ” from the American University in Cairo (AUC) in 2003 .In addition she attended several courses among which : Statistical Process Control ; Data Base Management (AUC) and Advanced Microsoft –certified Excel courses. As a certified Professional in healthcare Quality she is currently the Director of medical Records and Statistics Department, CUHs, and she is leading a system change in the department. She is also a member of the Executive Quality office of (CUHs.) and participated as an active member responsible for the preparation phase for the National Healthcare Accreditation and several other quality improvement teams. She participated as a master trainer in several Quality-oriented courses at the RCT and the AUC. She is a member of several scientific societies among which is the Egyptian Society for Quality in healthcare (ESQUA), QAI, and the Egyptian Society of Hospital Administration (ESHA).

Dr. Farid Abdul Fattah Zein Al Din
Professor of Total Quality Management and chairman of the Business Administration Department, Zagazig University, Egypt
Dr. Farid is one of the pioneers of Total Quality Management in the Middle East. He obtained his PhD in Business Administration from South Hampton University, UK. In 1983. Since that time he produced more twenty four scientific Publication in all aspects of Total Quality Management, Business Administration, Operations Research, Six Sigma, Balanced Score cards, Implementing Total Quality Management in Healthcare and how to practically implement the Tools for Continuous Quality Improvement. All the publications of Zein El Din are in Arabic. Dr Farid has published more than 21 scientific research papers and presented them in national and international conferences. As a professional trainer, Dr Farid has trained more than 100 organizations in most of the Arab countries in all aspects of management, TQM and Continuous improvement.

Built a career as a Professor at ASU, worked with the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities for Advancing Medical and Nursing education in Egyptian universities, Helped design and implement multiple training programs for medical and nursing faculty members, and helped introduce EBM to the Egyptian medical community through developing and implementing EBM training programs with both the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, and the National Training Institute.

Amr Nadim M.D.

Accreditation preparedness
Dr. Amr Nadim is a graduate of Ain Shams University (ASU) Faculty of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt. He Completed internship at the same University. Attended the residency program at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, ASU, where both MSc. and M.D. degrees were awarded. He is a foreign research fellow of the University of Claude Bernard and the Unit of Research Alexis Carrel; Lyon-France where he was awarded a University Diploma in the field of obstetric and gynecologic echography.
A Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at ASU Faculty of Medicine, practicing General Obstetrics and Gynecology, with special interests in the fields of Gynecologic oncology, early detection of genital tract malignancies, Infection prevention, women health with many contributions in the field of medical education reform both in collaboration with ASU, Supreme Council of Universities and the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population.
Dr. Nadim is currently member of the task force for the accreditation process of the Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine, of the Ain Shams maternity and Women Hospital quality control and quality improvement committee and of the Ain Shams Evidence Based Medicine Group. He recently participated in the Egyptian Health Care Accreditation Program which is part of the Health form Project Plus. The Progress Evaluation Report conducted by three international experts stated that Dr. Nadim is “qualified to be a teacher of future surveyors, one of the very best surveyors, team leader and demonstrated good teaching skills”
He is currently participating in multiple Reproductive Health, Educational and Evidence Based Medicine activities.
For the time being, Dr. Nadim is occupying the post of Chairman of the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology of the October 6 Faculty of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt.

Maaly Kamal Guimei, PhD

Primary Health Care Project Management
Dr. Guimei has over 35 years history in providing leadership for nursing education and managing International Health program specifically USAID funded family planning /reproductive health project. Prof. Guimei is staff at the Faculty of Nursing University of Alexandria which is the oldest in the Middle East and served as the dean for three years. Prof. Guimei also has a vast experience in institutional building, developing, managing and evaluating health programs. Prof. Guimei has also worked on the development of quality improvement tools; conducting situation analysis and providing preliminary technical assistance for Nursing Faculties & the nursing department in one of MOHP health facility to prepare for accreditation in order meet the goals of Safe Motherhood activities in Egypt. Prof Guimei also acted as a chief technical assistance resource person for areas related to non-clinical quality of care including counseling and infection control, facilitative Supervision and quality management. Prof. Guimei works as a consultant for international organizations have included: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Yemen, Oman, Tunisia and Pakistan. Prof. Guimei authored and co-authored several books and manuals on Maternal and Child Health, Education, Supervision and Managing Reproductive Health. Prof Guimei acted as consultant and Participated as key note speaker, trainer, and organizer for many workshops and conferences in areas related to: Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health, Safe Motherhood, Quality Improvement, Educational Curriculum, Evaluation, Training of Trainers and Community Participation. Dr Guimei obtained B.Sc. Nursing from Faculty of Nursing University of Alexandria; Master in Public Health from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; PhD from Faculty of Education Ain Shams University and Post Doctorate in Medical Education & Ed. Dr. Bagnied is a Professor and International Consultant of Marketing, Business Management, International Business, and Economics. He has over 35 years of domestic and international experience in management, consulting, education and research. Dr. Bagnied has been to about 50 countries and worked with several industrial, Agriculture, and service sectors. These include textiles, fibers, health care, Aerospace, and education. In addition to working with United Nations organizations as an international economist, he offered executive training programs in the US, Europe and Africa. His academic career covers being the Director of International Programs and Research at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), the Chairman of the Department of Marketing, Logistics and Public Contracting at UDC, coordinator of marketing programs at Bowie State University, as well as teaching at major universities in the Washington, DC area, Sweden, Egypt and Morocco and Kuwait. These include the George Washington University, the University of Maryland-College Park, University of Maryland University College, Bowie State University, Strayer University, the US Department of Defense, the American University in Cairo, Egypt, Vaxjo University in Sweden, Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco and the American University of Kuwait. He wrote over 70 publications, articles and conference papers. His expertise also includes organizing and managing international conferences, seminars and executive training programs in the US and overseas. He holds a certificate in Distance Education (WebTycho) from the University of Maryland University College.
